BROMSGROVE SPORTING’s weekend clash with Peterborough Sports was called off less than two hours before kick-off.
The referee deemed the pitch unsafe at 1.20pm, as Storm Eunice wreaked havoc across the country, after Sporting had already made the 200-mile round trip to Peterborough.
A local referee had deemed the pitch fit to play on at 10am that same morning only for conditions to worsen throughout the afternoon with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.
And Sporting players, officials and fans were left angered after arriving at Peterborough’s Bee Arena venue before being informed of the referee’s decision to postpone the fixture after the official had already left the ground.
The Peterborough Sports chairman chipped in to buy a round of drinks for a number of the travelling Bromsgrove fans as the club prepare for another long trip in midweek.
Sporting are next in action away at Leiston on Tuesday, February 22 with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Watson and Hillhouse Stadium.
