BROMSGROVE Sporting saw their winless run extended to four matches after the Rouslers were beaten 3-1 at home by Mickleover on Non-League Day.

Brandon Smalley levelled for Sporting in first-half injury time as Andrew Dales netted either side of the break and Elliott Reeves struck late on to secure the points for Mickleover at the Victoria Ground.

The result means Sporting sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Sporting made a slow start as Ollie Taylor made a couple of early saves before Mickleover took the lead on 16 minutes when Dales headed Jake Bennett’s floated cross from the right into the top left corner.

And Jack Newell, playing at right back, then made a superb goalline clearance to keep Sporting in the contest as he turned a shot over the bar with Taylor beaten.

The Rouslers were second best for much of the first half but restored parity in injury time when Smalley finished from close range after Oliver Bosworth could only parry debutant Prince Henry’s effort into the scorer’s path.

However, Mickleover restored their lead on 50 minutes as Sporting failed to clear their lines at a corner and Dales finished into the ground through a crowd of bodies to grab his second of the game.

Bromsgrove struggled to find a way back into the contest as Conor Tee shot wide from a promising position with Bosworth in the Mickleover goal rarely troubled.

And the visitors sealed the points on 89 minutes when Reeves was played through on goal and coolly placed the ball into the bottom right corner.

Sporting are next in action away at Nuneaton Borough on Saturday, April 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Liberty Way.
