JOURNEYMAN striker Leroy Lita scored the winner as Bromsgrove Sporting twice surrendered the lead in a 3-2 home defeat against Ilkeston Town.

Former Premier League star and 38-year-old veteran Lita struck in the second half at the Victoria Ground after Conor Tee and Tom Taylor had twice put Sporting ahead in the first half.

The result means Sporting sit 15th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points clear of the relegation zone.

Sporting made a strong start as Jack Tolley’s effort from 20-yards out was pushed around the post by Ilkeston goalkeeper Callum Hiddleston.

And the Rouslers broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Tee beat Hiddleston at his near post from 2o-yards out from Mo Sebbeh’s pass to score on his first start for the club.

However, Ilkeston were level just two minutes later as the ball fell kindly at the feet of Remaye Campbell who found the net after Sporting failed to clear Mitchell Woakes’s cross.

Sporting reclaimed the lead on 31 minutes when Taylor scrambled the ball home from close range after his initial header from Brandon Smalley’s corner was saved.

Ilkeston equalised for a second time with the last kick of the first half as Jordan Hallam’s shot deflected in off Mike McGrath with Ollie Taylor wrong-footed.

And the visitors completed the turnaround on 58 minutes when Lita guided the ball into the net after a scuffed effort took the ball into his path.

Bromsgrove pushed for an equaliser as Tolley fired over the crossbar from range before Callum King-Harmes’ powerful effort went straight at Hiddleston.

Sporting are next in action at home to Needham Market on Tuesday, March 7 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.
