BROMSGROVE Sporting remain winless on the road since December after the Rouslers were thrashed 4-0 by play-off contenders Nuneaton Borough.
Sporting were no match for their high-flying opponents but competed well in the first half before three second-half goals took the game out of their reach at Liberty Way.
The result means Sporting sit 15th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points clear of the relegation zone with four matches left to play.
Despite the final scoreline, Mike McGrath’s side made a promising start as Ayo Lekuti forced former Sporting goalkeeper Tony Breedon to tip his early effort over the crossbar.
However, Nuneaton took the lead on 19 minutes when Jaanai Gordon was fouled by Jack Newell in the box and Ryan Beswick sent Ollie Taylor the wrong way from the penalty spot.
And Borough doubled their lead on 50 minutes as Scott McManus glanced in Isaiah Osbourne’s corner after Taylor tipped Ricardo Dinanga’s shot over the bar moments earlier.
The home side sealed the points on 69 minutes when Gordon collected a long ball and fired a shot into the bottom left corner when one-on-one with Taylor.
And the scoring was complete on 75 minutes as Camron McWilliams burst down the right into the box and unleashed a powerful effort into the corner of Taylor’s net.
The defeat means Sporting are now winless in their last five league matches and have failed to win any of their last eight games away from home.
Sporting are next in action away at Coalville Town on Saturday, April 8 with kick-off at 3pm at the Mander Cruickshank Solicitors Stadium.
