FOOTBALL - Sporting install McGrath as interim player-manager

BROMSGROVE Sporting have installed Michael McGrath as the club’s new interim player-manager after parting company with former boss Thomas Baillie last weekend.

McGrath will be supported by the club’s Football Development Manager, Andy Mason, with further backroom staff additions to be announced in due course.

Sporting suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat at home to Leiston last weekend which subsequently led to the departure of Baillie and his management team after just five months in charge of the club.

A club statement read: “Thomas Baillie and his management team have left Sporting by mutual consent.

“We thank them for their hard work and wish them the best for the future.”

With McGrath now leading the Rouslers from the dugout, Tommy Taylor has been announced as Sporting’s new team captain.

Sporting are next in action away at Ilkeston Town on Saturday, October 22 with kick-off at 3pm at the New Manor Ground.
