BROMSGROVE SPORTING conceded four first-half goals as the Rouslers were beaten 4-2 by promotion hopefuls Rushall Olympic.

Sporting grabbed two late consolation strikes through Jonathan Letford and Will Shorrock but the damage was done in the first half when Rushall scored four goals in the space of 27 minutes.

The result leaves the Rouslers in 16th place in the Southern League Premier Central table, five points clear of the relegation zone.

Rushall made a fast start and took the lead on six minutes when Danny Glover broke clear of the defence before slotting home past Sporting goalkeeper Ollie Taylor.

And the visitors struck again on 24 minutes when Kristian Green head home Alex Moore’s corner before Thomas Thorley made it three on 27 minutes when he found the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.

Bromsgrove’s calamitous half became worse on 33 minutes when Moore scored Rushall’s fourth which prompted boss Gavin Hurren to make two first-half substitutions.

Sporting had Taylor to thank for keeping the score down in the second half as he prevented both Callum Coyle and Glover from adding to Rushall’s lead.

And Shorrock then had a penalty saved by Rushall goalkeeper Tom Palmer before Letford tapped home on 83 minutes after a good run and pass by Shorrock.

The midfielder then grabbed a goal for himself when his deflected effort looped into the net on 86 minutes but it was too little too late for the Rouslers to mount a serious comeback.

Sporting are next in action away at Peterborough Sports on Saturday, February 19 with kick-off at 3pm at the Bee Arena.
