BROMSGROVE Sporting secured back-to-back home wins for the first time since November with a 2-0 victory against relegation-threatened Kings Langley to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Player-manager Mike McGrath opened the scoring before Ammar Dyer’s goal sealed the win in first-half injury time at the Victoria Ground.

The result means Sporting sit 12th in the Southern League Premier Central table, well clear of the relegation zone.

And the Rouslers made a strong start as Brandon Smalley missed the target before the visitors responded through Wilson De Carvalho who forced Sporting goalkeeper Ollie Taylor into a fine low save.

The home side almost took the lead in fortuitous circumstances when Kings Langley goalkeeper Jack Berman’s attempted clearance hit Smalley and deflected just wide of the post.

However, Sporting broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when McGrath scrambled the ball home from close range after Jack Newell kept Smalley’s corner alive at the back post.

McGrath’s men pushed for a second goal as Dyer and Jack Tolley saw tame efforts easily saved by Berman.

And Sporting eventually doubled their lead at the end of the first half when Dyer produced an exquisite chip over Berman from Taylor’s superb long kick upfield.

The second half proved a quiet affair as Tolley had a goal ruled out for offside and De Carvalho missed an open goal for the visitors whilst Taylor made two crucial saves to keep Sporting’s clean sheet intact.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at league leaders Tamworth on Saturday, February 25 with kick-off at 3pm at the Lamb Ground.
