RETURNING Bromsgrove Sporting manager Paul Smith has begun shaping his squad for the 2024/25 season with a raft of new signings.

First through the door is former Stourbridge captain Reece King who spent the end of last season with boyhood club Malvern Town.

And the club have also swooped to bring in young striker Aaron Bishop who scored 28 goals in 53 games for Midland Football League Premier Division side Darlaston Town.

Smith said: “Kingy is a fantastic first new signing for the club. He’s a top player, with lots of step three experience, great leadership qualities, and he will help our younger players immensely.

“A number of Step Three clubs were interested in Bish, so I’m delighted he has decided to come here. He’s a young, hungry forward, who will only get better.”

Sporting have also signed another striker, Harry Crook, who scored 31 goals for Dudley Town in the MFL Premier Division last season and departs his former club with an impressive record of 46 goals in 51 appearances.

And the Rouslers have added forward Josh Willis to their squad after he helped Pershore Town win the Hellenic League Division One title in 2022/23 and scored 23 goals in 45 games at Step Five last season.

Smith added: “Harry is a goalscorer, and I think he has matured as a player in the last twelve months. He is desperate to showcase his talents at this level, and his desire to do so with us impresses me.

“Josh is another player that has stood out massively at a lower level for a couple of seasons now. He’s a creative forward player that I think the fans are going to love.”

Bromsgrove have also strengthened at the back with the signing of Ethan Patterson who impressed for rivals Alvechurch last season and is an Aston Villa academy product.

And midfielder Isaac Adegoke has joined the club after winning the Northern Premier League Midlands title with Spalding United last season and also played under Smith at Halesowen Town.

Smith said: “The big man had a brilliant season at Alvechurch last season and, being honest, I didn’t think we would get him with the interest he had. But, we have, and I’m absolutely delighted. He is another big signing.

“I worked with Isaac at Halesowen – he’s a young box to box midfielder with energy to burn. He typifies the type of player I’m bringing in this season – young, fit and hungry.”

Sporting have also retained the services of captain Luke Rowe and vice-captain Aaron Roberts along with goalkeeper Ollie Taylor while midfielders Billy Shaw and Keanu Cooper have agreed to stay on at the Victoria Ground next season.
