FOOTBALL - Scott Adey-Linforth praises Bromsgrove Sporting defending in Stamford win

SCOTT Adey-Linforth believes Bromsgrove Sporting have addressed their defensive woes after recording a clean sheet in a home win against Stamford in midweek.

Goals from Gustavo Sanches and Bradley Stretton sealed a 2-0 win for the Rouslers as Sporting won at the Victoria Ground for just the second time this season.

That came after Sporting drew 2-2 against Bury Town last weekend. The results leave Bromsgrove 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

And Adey-Linforth insists his side have become harder to score against after conceding four goals in their last six matches.

Adey-Linforth said: “We scored first [against Stamford] which was important. We defended for a lot of the game but we defended outstandingly.

“I thought we were fantastic behind the ball and then we went and got the second goal to wrap it up.

“Last weekend was probably the best we’ve played this season and we came up short.

“We had to back it up. I don’t think you’ll see many better defensive performances than that.

“We were conceding goals for fun at the start of the season, it’s quite a turnaround.

“We’re a lot better without the ball, we’re harder to score against.”

The Sporting boss also heaped praise on forward Sanches who has scored three goals in his last five appearances.

Adey-Linforth added: “He took his goal really well. That’s Gus in a nutshell.

“He’s unpredictable. I don’t know what he’s doing. The centre-backs don’t know what he’s doing. It makes him dangerous.

“I can’t sing his praises highly enough. He came here after a trial in pre-season and waited for his chance.

“He’s got his opportunity and he’s grabbing it with both hands at the moment.

“He’s playing so well, he’s a great character and a great human being. I’m so happy for him.”

Bromsgrove are next in action against unbeaten league leaders Harborough Town on Saturday, October 18 with kick-off at 3pm at the Community Football Ground.
