SCOTT Adey-Linforth insists Bromsgrove Sporting’s victory against Banbury United is ‘just the start’ ahead of a rare free weekend for his side.
Sporting ended a run of five straight home defeats with a 3-0 win against Banbury at the Victoria Ground.
The Rouslers tasted victory for just the second time in the Southern League Premier Central this season.
And with the club already out of the FA Cup, Sporting have no scheduled fixture this weekend.
Adey-Linforth has challenged his squad to build on the win against Banbury and wants his players to show more consistency.
Adey-Linforth said: “It was a great performance. It’s been a really difficult period for me personally and for the lads. It’s been tough.
“We went back to basics and they showed everything I knew they could do. They showed resilience and defended the goal with passion.
“I know they’ve got it in them. I’ve been pulling my hair out because I know they can do it.
“It’s important but it’s just the start. We’ve got to build on it. The players have worked so hard. The results haven’t shown it but they’ve worked so hard.
“It’s about consistency now. The players have got to work hard and keep getting fitter.
“We’ve conceded way too many goals and we’ve looked ropey but we looked solid and defended the goal with real desire. I’m buzzing to keep a clean sheet.
“As gutting as it is to be out of the FA Cup, it’s a welcome break. We’ve got a few bumps in the camp so it will give us time to refresh a little bit.”
Bromsgrove are next in action against Barwell on Saturday, September 20 with kick-off at 3pm at Kirkby Road.
