BROMSGROVE Sporting suffered a humiliating 7-1 defeat at home to Leiston as the fixture spelled the end of Thomas Baillie’s reign in charge of the club.

The Rouslers were six goals down at half time and conceded again in the second period before Mikey Taylor scored a consolation from the penalty spot late on at the Victoria Ground.

Despite the hefty defeat, Sporting sit 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Bromsgrove went into the game without regular goalkeeper Ollie Taylor, who picked up an injury in their defeat to table toppers Tamworth, as Gloucester City loanee Liam Armstrong was handed the gloves.

Sporting made a disastrous start and found themselves three goals behind after just 11 minutes as Finlay Burns struck twice and Adam Bailey-Dennis scored to all but settle the game as a contest.

And Jake Hutchings scored Leiston’s fourth goal on 24 minutes before Ben Fowkes made it five just two minutes later and netted his second of the afternoon shortly before half time.

The visitors scored their seventh goal on 68 minutes as William Davies found the net before Taylor grabbed a late consolation from the penalty spot in the final minute of normal time.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at Ilkeston Town on Saturday, October 22 with kick-off at 3pm at the New Manor Ground.
