SCOTT Adey-Linforth insists climbing out of the relegation zone remains Bromsgrove Sporting’s primary objective following an impressive 2-0 win at Halesowen Town on New Year’s Day.
Sporting stretched their unbeaten run to five matches thanks to goals from Jamie Meddows and Fin Holmes at the Grove.
And with the Rouslers only inside the Southern League Premier Central relegation zone on goal difference, Adey-Linforth wants his side to continue their recent resurgence.
Adey-Linforth said: “Our first objective is to get out of the relegation zone. Once we’ve done that then we can start to look to climb up the table.
“First and foremost you have to keep getting points on the board and keep improving and get out of the relegation zone.
“It’s a great win, we knew it was going to be a tough game, we were definitely in the trenches in the first half but defended the box very well.
“The lads are working really hard, we’re improving slowly and we have to keep that mentality, we’ve got to push up the table.
“It’s definitely the foundations for a good New Year.
“We respect everybody, everyone in this league can hurt you, we go into every game with that mentality.”
A pair of second-half goals from Meddows and Holmes earned Sporting the points against Halesowen on New Year’s Day.
Meddows poked Bromsgrove into the lead on 54 minutes after Aksum White burst down the right and crossed the ball to the striker in the box.
And Holmes doubled the away side’s advantage on 69 minutes with a finish into the bottom corner after Reece King flicked on Charlie Price’s long kick up the pitch.
The Rouslers have enjoyed a fabulous festive period after winning at Stratford Town in their last game before Christmas.
Adey-Linforth’s side then beat Stourbridge 2-0 on Boxing Day before playing out a 1-1 draw at Spalding United.
Bromsgrove host Hitchin Town on Saturday, January 4 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
