JAMIE Molyneux’s first Bromsgrove Sporting goal was cancelled out by Jamie Ashmore’s dramatic 89th minute header as the Rouslers were held to a 1-1 draw against local rivals Redditch United.

Molyneux opened the scoring when he found the bottom corner after just 13 minutes only for Ashmore to equalise via a well-placed header with one minute left to play.

The result means Sporting sit 12th in the Southern League Premier Central table and are unbeaten in seven league games under boss Gavin Hurren whilst Redditch are out of the relegation zone on goal difference.

And Bromsgrove scored with the first clear cut chance of the night when Molyneux drilled an effort into the bottom left corner after Redditch failed to clear a loose ball in the box.

Romario Martin then spurned a glorious opportunity to equalise when he raced through on goal after Bromsgrove were caught in possession only to shoot inches wide of the right-hand post.

The teams continued to trade chances when Josh Dugmore’s shot from distance was comfortably saved by Reds keeper Kieran Boucher.

And Redditch responded with a chance of their own when Ashmore’s cross from the right was turned behind his own goal by Charlie Wise at full stretch.

The home side then saw Tiago Nassunculo’s free-kick easily saved by Sporting keeper Aaron Clayton from the right-hand edge of the penalty area.

And Clarke’s side should have equalised in the final few minutes of the half when Dan Sweeney’s cross from the right was headed into the ground and over by Charlie Williams at the back post.

Redditch continued to probe after the break when Martin’s effort from 20-yards out was well-saved low down to his right by Clayton.

The hosts had another chance to level late on when a dangerous free-kick was swung into the box only for Ryan Wollacott’s header to fly over the crossbar from close range.

However, Redditch snatched a deserved point on 89 minutes when Ashmore guided a superb header in off the right-hand post to earn a share of the spoils in front of 933 fans at the Trico Stadium.
