FOOTBALL - New date set for Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies FA Cup tie

A NEW date has been set for Bromsgrove Sporting Ladies’ eagerly anticipated Women’s FA Cup First Qualifying Round tie against Coventry City Women.

The game will now be played on Sunday, September 18 with kick-off at 2pm at the Victoria Ground.

Entry is just £1 for adults with over 65’s and under-16’s going free whilst the bar will be open for refreshments and is cash only with a raffle also set to take place.

The tie was originally due to take place on Sunday, September 11 only for the game to be postponed after football matches at all levels of the pyramid were suspended as a mark of respect to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The ladies were formed in 2020 but their debut season was curtailed due to Covid-19.

In their first full season they finished a respectable fourth place in the Midwest Counties Football League.

This is the first time that Sporting Ladies have entered the FA Cup, with the draw handing them a tough opponent against a well-established Coventry team.

And Sporting started their league campaign with a resounding 11-0 win against local rivals Meadow Park with Ellie Nash, Amy Kendall and Charlotte Frost all scoring hat-trick’s whilst Elle Higgins-Pugsley and Ellie Mcloughlin were also on target.
