LEON Broadhurst felt Bromsgrove Sporting ‘deserved’ to take all three points after claiming a stunning win at title-chasing Spalding United.
Late strikes from substitutes Luke Benbow and Shay Willock saw the Rouslers end a run of five games without a win at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.
The result means Bromsgrove sit 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points clear of the relegation zone.
And Rouslers assistant boss Broadhurst insists the club’s players know what they need to do to secure survival this season.
Broadhurst said: “It was an unbelievable performance, we struggled to get up to the pace of the game in the first 10 or 15 minutes.
“But as soon as we got a foothold in the game, we created numerous opportunities and got into some great areas.
“With a bit more quality we would have nicked a goal in the first half. We said to the boys, don’t let all that good work go to waste in the second half.
“The lads who came on made such a difference. I’m ecstatic for the boys, they are so united in that dressing room and they understand what we need to do.
“We were absolutely outstanding in the second half. We saw the opportunity to leave here with three points and we deserved to leave with three points.”
Bromsgrove stunned Spalding with six minutes left to play as Benbow headed in Jack Kelly’s floated cross from the left at the back post from six-yards out.
And the Rouslers sealed the points deep into injury time on the 100-minute mark when Willock pounced a short backpass, rounded Spalding goalkeeper Daniel Wilks and finished into an empty net.
Broadhurst also hopes the victory will provide Sporting with some momentum heading into the final few weeks of the campaign.
Broadhurst added: “People had probably written us off seeing our fixture list towards the end of the season.
“They probably thought, they’ve got to go to Spalding, they’ve go to go to Needham [Market], it’s a tough run-in.
“I’ve been in Step Three football a long time and anyone can beat anyone at this level on their day.
“If we play like that from now until the end of the season, we’ll be absolutely fine.”
Bromsgrove are next in action against Needham Market on Friday, April 3 with kick-off at 3pm at Bloomfields.
