SUBSTITUTE Luke Benbow scored a late goal to earn Bromsgrove Sporting a 2-1 home win against in-form Leiston
Benbow struck five minutes from time to put Sporting back in front after James Sanderson put the Rouslers ahead at the Victoria Ground.
Leiston equalised shortly after half time courtesy of Eddie Jackson’s header only for Benbow to restore the home’s lead late on.
The result means Bromsgrove sit 16th in the Southern League Premier Central table, six points clear of the relegation zone.
Sporting broke the deadlock on 15 minutes when the ball sat up nicely for Sanderson who saw his volley from 12-yards out deflect past Billy Johnson from Bradley Stretton’s pass.
However, the visitors drew level three minutes after the break as Jackson drilled a low effort into the left side of the goal from just inside the penalty area.
The Rouslers reclaimed the lead on 85 minutes when Adam Harrison launched a long kick up the pitch which Leiston failed to deal with as Benbow looped a header over Johnson.
Victory for Sporting brings an end to the club’s three-game losing run in all competitions while the Rouslers stretched their unbeaten run at home to four matches.
The Rouslers also ended Leiston’s seven-game unbeaten run in the league in the process.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Royston Town on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
