BROMSGROVE ROVERS AFC exited the County Cup after a 4-0 defeat against higher-division Kings Heath Rangers, writes Neil Gordon.
Goals from Oliur Rahman and Oliver Goodchild put Rangers two-nil up at half-time at the Thimble Mill Recreation Ground.
And further strikes from Jay Mistry and Caleb Twilley completed the scoring in the second-half as the Birmingham League Division One side advanced at Rovers’ expense.
The two teams observed a minute’s silence in advance of Remembrance Sunday before kick-off.
Rahman put Kings Heath ahead when he slotted home in the third minute following a free kick.
Bromsgrove settled into the game and enjoyed a good period of play but could not find an equaliser before Goodchild doubled the home side’s lead from a corner.
In the second-half Bromsgrove continued to plug away only for a shot from Mistry to take a cruel deflection and find the net on the hour mark.
Twilley sealed victory and a place in round two for Rangers late on to knock Rovers out of the competition.
Bromsgrove host Phoenix Town in the Intermediate Cup on Saturday, November 16 with kick-off at 2pm at Charford Road and admission free.
