RYAN Grundy scored twice as Hopwood Swifts played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with FC Stratford to again frustrate their titles hopes, writes Neil Gordon.
Calum Harper and Cam Jones were also on the scoresheet at Charford Road as Hopwood were looking to collect maximum points and maintain pressure on leaders Sutton United, who were without a fixture.
Swifts remain second in Division One of the Birmingham and District Football League on 20 points from 12 games, now seven points behind unbeaten leaders United, who have played one game less.
The game marked the second match running in which Swifts conceded four goals after last week’s 4-1 defeat to Desi. And the fixture also represented the second home 4-4 draw this season after sharing eight goals with Sutton United last October.
Meanwhile, Bromsgrove Rovers AFC suffered another weather-related postponement with their Eldorado Close pitch deemed waterlogged and their league fixture against Silhill cancelled.
And Rovers remain rooted to the bottom of Division One on three points from four games having not played a league fixture since November. The Greens now have as many as eight games in hand and would go joint top of the table if they were to win all of their outstanding fixtures.
Hopwood play North Solihull at Coleshill Road on Saturday, March 7. Kick-off is 2.30pm and admission free.
