NATHAN Hayward’s injury-time equaliser rescued a point for Bromsgrove Sporting as they drew 2-2 with St Ives Town to extend their unbeaten run to four matches.

Hayward struck three minutes into added on time after Jack Newell had scored the Rouslers first equaliser on 27 minutes.

The home side twice led through Michael Richens’ third minute screamer and Dylan Williams’ penalty on 76 minutes.

But Sporting showed resilience to come from behind on two separate occasions and secure a vital point.

The result leaves Bromsgrove in 13th place in the Southern League Premier Central table – four points clear of the relegation zone.

St Ives made a quick start when Richens unleashed a stunning strike past Sporting keeper Aaron Clayton scoring from distance in off the right-hand post.

And after Hayward came close with a long range effort shortly after – Sporting eventually drew level.

A fine move ended with Newell finishing coolly beyond St Ives goalkeeper Ben Heath after he was picked out by the impressive Joe Willis.

Sporting spurned a pair of chances early in the second period as Joel Kettle had a header tipped over before Jamie Molyneux fired inches past the post.

And the Rouslers should have gone ahead when Cameron Ebbutt fired over from 10-yards out when one-on-one with Heath after he capitalised on a defensive error.

Gavin Hurren’s side came close again when Hayward’s effort was tipped over by Heath before Jake Bloomer’s foul in the box gave St Ives a chance to retake the lead from the penalty spot.

Williams kept his composure from the spot to send Clayton the wrong way – rolling the ball to the keeper’s left – to leave Bromsgrove on the verge of defeat.

However, after Hayward was denied once again by Heath in the final minute of normal time – the midfielder would eventually snatch a point for the visitors.

Hayward found the bottom corner – three minutes into time added on – after a cross into the box was headed down into his path by Kettle.

Sporting are next in action away at Rushall Olympic on Tuesday, November 30 in the Southern League Challenge Cup with kick-off at 7:45pm at Dales Lane.
