ALVECHURCH suffered a 3-1 defeat against Hitchin Town as Church’s seven-game unbeaten run at home came to an end.
Church trailed to goals from Jack Snelus, Diogo Freitas-Gouveia and Finley Wilkinson before Danny Waldron scored a late consolation from the penalty spot at Lye Meadow.
The result means Alvechurch sit 11th in the Southern League Premier Central table with three games left to play.
Hitchin took the lead on eight minutes when Jack Snelus fired across goal and past Church goalkeeper Dan Jezeph.
And the Canaries doubled their lead on 54 minutes when Freitas-Gouveia bundled the ball across the line after Church failed to clear the ball at a set-piece.
Hitchin made sure of the points on 68 minutes when Wilkinson finished off a flowing move before Waldron scored a 98th minute penalty with the last kick of the game.
Alvechurch are next in action at home to title-chasing Coalville Town on Tuesday, April 18 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow.
