BROMSGROVE Sporting’s under-12s are celebrating a league and cup double.
Sporting’s youngsters won the Mercian League and the Mercian Cup to cap a fine season.
The under-12s finished the league season on 43 points – just a single point ahead of runners-up Inkberrow Eagles.
And Bromsgrove denied the Eagles again in the cup final with a dominant 4-0 victory at Pershore Town’s Community Stadium.
Goals from Charlie Jones, Josh Livesey, captain Rex Davis and an own goal ensured the cup went home with Sporting while defender Flynn Palfrey won the man of the match award.
The boys attend Bromsgrove School, Alvechurch Middle School, St John’s Middle School, Studley High School, Alcester Grammar School and RGS Worcester.
Coach Gavin Tansey said: “The boys have had a great first season. Newly-formed, all of the lads have previous football experience but this was their first season playing together.
“We managed to win the league in our final game beating the top-placed team to take the title by one point.
“Following this, to turn up to the League Cup final and put on a commanding performance, playing expansive passing football we’ve seen all season, was the icing on the cake.
“Myself and the other coaches couldn’t be prouder of the boys efforts and achievements.”
