BROMSGROVE Sporting saw their winless run in the league stretch to seven matches following a 1-1 draw away against Bury Town.
Sporting fell behind to George Quantrell’s goal only for Luke Benbow to earn a point for the Rouslers at Ram Meadow.
The result leaves Bromsgrove 17th in the Southern League Premier Central table, two points above the relegation zone.
Sporting made a bright start and went close early on as Bury goalkeeper Charlie Beckwich made a fine reaction save low down to his left to keep out Billy Shaw’s effort.
Beckwith could only divert the ball into the bath of Jaden Charles who saw his header saved by a scrambling Beckwith as the game remained goalless.
And Shaw spurned another chance soon after as he raced onto a through ball only to fire over the bar after creating room for a shot.
Sporting almost broke the deadlock shortly before the break as Tyrone Lewthwaite’s low strike from the edge of the penalty area hit the post.
And Beckwith then tipped Lewthwaite’s close-range header behind for a corner as the first half ended goalless.
However, Bury took the lead on 59 minutes when Quantrell curled a shot into the bottom right corner from the edge of the penalty area.
Sporting deservedly drew level on 71 minutes as substitute Benbow made an immediate impact from the bench with a smart turn and finish from Shaw’s pass.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Real Bedford on Tuesday, January 20 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Ledger Stadium.
