BROMSGROVE Sporting slumped to a heavy 4-0 home defeat against St Ives Town to remain winless at the Victoria Ground this season.

Goals from Ethan Creary, Jamal Adams, Jernade Meade and Amir Hadi inflicted a fifth straight defeat on Sporting in all competitions.

The result means Bromsgrove sit 20th in the Southern League Premier Central table, two points from safety.

Sporting confirmed the return of the club’s record appearance holder Aaron Roberts prior to the fixture.

And young striker Charlie Pavey also joined the club on loan from Aston Villa with both players thrust straight into the starting line-up.

However, St Ives broke the deadlock on 12 minutes when Creary fired past Adam Harrison from eight-yards out after Sporting failed to clear their lines at a set-piece.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 38 minutes as Adams beat Harrison from just inside the penalty area with Sporting appealing for a penalty at the other end for a foul on Aksum White.

St Ives all but sealed the points on 51 minutes when Meade outjumped Harrison as the pair battled for a loose ball and finished into an empty net.

And substitute Hadi completed the scoring in the final minute with a turn and shot into the corner from 12-yards out.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Banbury United on Tuesday, September 9 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.
