BROMSGROVE Sporting lost 2-1 away at Halesowen Town as the Rouslers suffered a third consecutive defeat in the league.

Yeltz forward Kieren Donnelly scored a first-half brace to put Halesowen in command before Sporting skipper Luke Rowe reduced the deficit at The Grove.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit 16th in the Southern League Premier Central table, eight points above the relegation zone.

The Rouslers made a bright start as Conor Tee twice failed to hit the target before Donnelly and Josh Ezewele both fired wide at the other end.

And the two teams continued to trade chance as Ollie Taylor held McKauley Manning’s shot before Billy Shaw missed a good chance to break the deadlock at the other end when well-placed.

The Yeltz opened the scoring on 31 minutes when Donnelly fired a well-struck shot past Taylor from 20-yards out.

And Donnelly doubled the home side’s lead on the stroke of half time, heading home from a free-kick from six-yards out.

However, Sporting responded after the break as Rowe rose highest to head in Tee’s corner from the right off the underside of the crossbar from close range.

Neither side were able to carve out a meaningful chance in the remaining minutes to leave Sporting winless on the road since October.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at Kettering Town on Tuesday, January 30 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Latimer Park.
