BROMSGROVE Sporting maintained their perfect start to pre-season with a narrow 1-0 win against Lichfield City.
Callum King-Harmes scored the game’s only goal at the Trade Tyre Community Stadium as the Rouslers made it four wins and four clean sheets in as many pre-season matches.
King-Harmes struck three minutes before half time as Sporting proved too strong for their Midland Football League Premier Division opponents.
Sporting’s George Forsyth made a crucial early block to keep the scores level before Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham headed over the crossbar for the visitors at the other end.
And Jamie Meddows then saw his shot saved before Kieran Cook fired wide from a tight angle and Aaron Bishop had a header cleared off the line.
However, Sporting eventually broke the deadlock on 42 minutes as King-Harmes found the net from inside the box despite the best efforts of the Lichfield goalkeeper.
The home side improved after the break and created a couple of chances in the opening minutes of the second period as Charlie Price made a smart save to deny former Rousler Joe Haines.
And after Recce King and Bishop failed to make the most of headed chances, Lichfield had a header of their own cleared off the line before Price made another important stop to steer a free-kick to safety.
A Sporting trialist had a couple of chances to seal the win late on which included a free-kick saved by the Lichfield goalkeeper as the Rouslers claimed another pre-season victory.
Bromsgrove continue their pre-season campaign against Birmingham City under-21s on Tuesday, July 23 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.
