BROMSGROVE Sporting ended a run of three straight league defeats with a goalless draw against Banbury United.

Paul Smith’s side recorded a much-needed clean sheet at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium following a raft of defensive incomings.

The result means Bromsgrove sit 18th in the Southern League Premier Central table, one point above the relegation zone.

Sporting handed debuts to defensive trio Ash Carter, Josh Ezewele and Carter Lycett as all three players made an immediate impact.

Rouslers goalkeeper Charlie Price made an impressive early save as he kept out Jaanai Gordon’s header from close range.

At the other end, Banbury goalkeeper Jack Harding twice denied Charlie Wragg as the latter saw a headed attempt tipped over the crossbar.

Chances were at a premium after the break as Sporting striker Theo Robinson spurned a late chance to win the game when he shot wide in injury time.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Kettering Town on Tuesday, October 15 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Victoria Ground.
