BROMSGROVE Sporting conceded two penalties in a 2-0 defeat against Bishop’s Stortford on the opening day of the season.

The Rouslers conceded a spot kick in either half at the Victoria Ground as Cole Dasilva twice found the net from 12-yards out for the visitors.

The opening day defeat leaves Sporting 18th in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Scott Adey-Linforth’s side endured an afternoon to forget following a busy off season which saw the club sign a number of new players.

However, after just 10 minutes, Rouslers goalkeeper Adam Harrison fouled Saleem Akanbi in the box after the latter pounced on Paul McCone’s weak backpass.

And former Wales youth international Dasilva confidently converted from the penalty spot.

Sporting’s best chance of the first half fell to Josh Ezewele who fired a shot over the crossbar from 25-yards out.

The Rouslers spurned further chances to equalise after the break as Nick Clayton-Phillips sent a free header wide.

And Ezewele then saw his header cleared to safety before Harrison twice denied Akanbi at the other end.

However, Ezewele fouled Obi Onyeagwara in the box with six minutes left to play.

And Dasilva sent Harrison the wrong way from the penalty spot to double the away side’s lead.

The Rouslers created a couple of chances late on as Koby Arthur hit the crossbar from 20-yards out while Kobe Hall saw his effort saved by visiting goalkeeper Adam Hayton.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Alvechurch on Tuesday, August 12 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow.
