BROMSGROVE Sporting produced a sensational second-half comeback from two goals down to beat AFC Sudbury 5-3 despite playing for more than an hour with 10-men.

The Rouslers looked down and out before the hour mark as a brace from Jack Stone and further goal from Harvey Peters put the visitors two goals to the good.

Sporting briefly drew level courtesy of Theo Robinson’s goal only for Luke Benbow to see red for the Rouslers after just 24 minutes.

However, a quickfire brace from Tyrone Lewthwaite drew the home side level and swung the momentum of the game back in Bromsgrove’s favour.

Sporting captain Aaron Roberts completed a remarkable turnaround late on before Jack Newell sealed the points deep into injury time.

The result means Bromsgrove sit 15th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points clear of the relegation zone.

Sudbury broke the deadlock after just eight minutes when Stone poked home from close range after Sporting failed to deal with a ball into the box from the left.

However, the Rouslers drew level on 13 minutes as Robinson found the bottom right corner after Benbow beat Sudbury goalkeeper Jack Munson in a challenge for a loose ball.

The game turned when Benbow received a straight red card after the referee deemed the striker to handle a goalbound effort on the line following a header at a corner.

And Stone duly converted the resulting penalty on 25 minutes as he sent Rory Brown the wrong way from the spot with a cool strike into the bottom right corner.

Sudbury extended their lead on 55 minutes as Peters nodded in a floated ball from the left at the back post from point-blank range.

Sporting kept themselves in the contest on 62 minutes when substitute Lewthwaite took the ball past the goalkeeper and finished into an empty net.

And Lewthwaite stunned the visitors with a second goal five minutes later as the striker closed down Munson’s attempted clearance which left the goal at his mercy.

The Rouslers completed the turnaround on 86 minutes when Roberts forced a shot past Munson’s from close range following a corner from the right.

And Sporting secured the points seven minutes into injury time as Newell latched onto Brown’s long kick and rounded Munson before applying the finish.
