BROMSGROVE Sporting’s FA Cup run came to an end after the Rouslers suffered a 3-0 defeat in a replay at Chelmsford City in third round qualifying.

The National League South side took the lead through Luke Jenkins’ first-half goal before Callum Jones netted a brace after the break to knock Sporting out of the FA Cup at Melbourne Community Stadium.

Sporting settled into the game and saw an early shout for a penalty turned away by the referee after Miro Pais went down in the box following good work from Conor Tee.

Rouslers goalkeeper Ollie Taylor then made a crucial save to keep the scores level, superbly tipping Mo Bettamer’s shot over the crossbar

However, Chelmsford eventually broke the deadlock on 35 minutes as Jenkins fired home from close range after Ben Brookes’ initial free-kick hit the post.

And City extended their lead after the break on 63 minutes when Jones slid the ball past Taylor after evading Luke Rowe’s challenge.

Jones completed the scoring in injury time with his second goal of the night after Taylor fumbled Adam Mills’ cross and the former tapped the ball in from close range.

Sporting are next in action at home to Halesowen Town on Saturday, October 7 in the FA Trophy with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
