BROMSGROVE Sporting surrendered a first-half lead as the Rouslers finished their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against Marlow.

Sporting took the lead through Reece King’s goal only for Jordi Ebanda to equalise late on for the visitors at the Victoria Ground.

The result means the Rouslers head into the 2024/25 Southern League Premier Central campaign off the back of five wins, one draw and two defeats in pre-season.

Sporting made a bright start against the Southern League Premier Division South side as Jamie Meddows saw his effort saved before new loan signing Charlie Wragg fired over from distance.

And after Marlow went close with a header at the other end, Sporting took the lead on 26 minutes as King found the back of the net after excellent work from Meddows.

King went close to a second soon after when he headed Callum King-Harmes’ cross wide of the target.

Marlow improved after the break as Sporting stopper Charlie Price made a smart save to keep Sporting in front.

And Price made another important save later in the half while Harry Crook could only find the side netting at the other end.

The visitors eventually drew level with eight minutes left to play as Ebanda bundled the ball into the net after the Rouslers failed to clear their lines at a corner.

And Marlow almost won the game with four minutes remaining as a visiting player fired narrowly wide from the edge of the penalty area.

Bromsgrove begin their league campaign away at Hitchin Town on Saturday, August 10 with kick-off at 3pm at Top Field.
