GUSTAVO Macedo-Sanches came off the bench to score what proved to be the winner as Bromsgrove Sporting claimed an excellent 3-2 win away at Leiston.
Macedo-Sanches scored with his first touch just seconds after his introduction to put Sporting two goals ahead after Aaron Roberts and Keanu Cooper twice fired the Rouslers in front.
A late goal from Jamar Loza, who had earlier levelled the game, set up a nervy final few minutes but Sporting held on to end Leiston’s 19-game unbeaten run at home in the league at Victory Road.
The result means Bromsgrove sit 10th in the Southern League Premier Central table after four matches.
Sporting took the lead on 21 minutes with Roberts heading in at the back post from Conor Tee’s corner as the defender scored his first goal for the club since returning to the Victoria Ground in the summer.
However, Leiston restored parity just three minutes later as Loza curled home a stunning equaliser into the bottom right corner from 20-yards out.
The visitors reclaimed the lead on 53 minutes when Cooper hammered the ball home from the edge of the penalty area to score his first goal for the club.
And the Rouslers were in dreamland on 79 minutes when Macedo-Sanches nodded in from close range from Roberts’ square header at the back post just seconds after replacing Ben O’Hanlon.
Sporting had chances to seal the points as Prince Henry fired against the post before then being denied when one-on-one with Leiston goalkeeper Sam Donkin.
The home side struck five minutes into time added on when Loza finished from close range but Sporting saw the game out to secure a memorable win and end Leiston’s long unbeaten run at home.
Sporting are next in action at home to Stamford on Saturday, August 26 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
The Rouslers then travel to Stourbridge on Monday, August 28 with kick-off at 3pm at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
