PAUL Smith is confident Bromsgrove Sporting will start to pick up more points after the Rouslers dropped into the relegation zone following a 2-1 defeat against Kettering Town.
Despite Ethan Patterson putting the Rouslers ahead, goals from former Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger and a Jonathan Edwards penalty condemned Sporting to defeat at the Victoria Ground.
And with Sporting now two points from safety in the Southern League Premier Central table, Smith believes his side’s luck will turn if they continue to work hard.
Smith said: “I don’t think the boys can work any harder, they give us everything and throw themselves on the line.
“Over the course of the season, that’s probably the best back-to-back performances we’ve put in.
“If we continue to put in those kind of performances and that effort and work rate, I’m confident we’ll pick some points up.
“It’s about keeping the players heads up, I don’t worry about league tables until Christmas time.
“There’s lots of points to play for between now and then and the league table is quite tight.
“Stamford is another great game for us, it’s important we rally the boys and they keep working hard and our luck will turn.”
Sporting broke the deadlock on 27 minutes when first-half substitute Patterson diverted Jamie Meddows’ pinpoint cross into the net.
Patterson took to the field in place of recent signing Josh Ezewele after the defender suffered a dislocated shoulder.
However, the visitors drew level one minute before half time as Ranger’s cross from out wide found the bottom corner.
And Kettering completed the turnaround on 65 minutes when Edwards scored from the penalty spot after Patterson handled the ball in the box.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Stamford on Saturday, October 19 with kick-off at 3pm at the Zeeco Stadium.
