BROMSGROVE Sporting defender Ash Carter remains confident the club can turn their poor start to the season around ahead of his return from injury.
Carter sustained an adductor tendon injury in pre-season which ruled him out for more than five weeks.
And Sporting have felt the defender’s absence after conceding 12 goals in their first five league matches.
Only AFC Sudbury have conceded more goals than the Rouslers with Sporting languishing in the Southern League Premier Central relegation zone.
However, in a message to the club’s supporters, Carter insists Sporting will turn their poor form around if everyone at the club sticks together.
Carter said: “I’ve been injured for the best part of five to six weeks now.
“I first felt it in the first pre season game and thought it was just tightness.
“I carried on training and playing, thinking it was just tight, but it turned out to be a 6mm tear in my adductor tendon, which a private chartered physio recommended rest to be taken.
“I’m itching to get back to help the lads – I’m back running and still upping my rehab, whilst seeing a physio.
“I’m hoping to be back playing for the September 6 game all being well.
“There’s been a few bumps in the road on the way, but nothing will stop me from getting through this and being back on the pitch helping everyone.
“I look forward to seeing you all very soon and remember, as a football club, tough times never last – we will turn it around, with the help of everyone.”
Bromsgrove suffered a record derby defeat against local rivals Redditch United in their last outing.
The Rouslers have now lost their last seven derby matches against the Reds.
This weekend’s FA Cup tie against Evesham United will come too soon for Carter to make his return to the pitch.
However, the centre-back hopes to play a part in Sporting’s league fixture against St Ives Town on Saturday, September 6.
