BROMSGROVE Sporting claimed just a second-ever win in the FA Trophy with a 3-0 victory away at divisional rivals Barwell.

Goals from Billy Shaw, Jack Newell and James Sanderson sealed Sporting’s place in the next round at Kirkby Road despite a late red card for Kobe Hall.

The Rouslers returned to Barwell just weeks after beating the same opposition in the Southern League Premier Central.

And Sporting broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when Shaw finished into an empty net from Charlie Pavey’s square ball after Reece King’s initial header created the chance.

Bromsgrove doubled their lead on 57 minutes as Newell curled a stunning effort into the right corner of the goal from the edge of the penalty area.

Rouslers substitute Hall received a straight red card in the final minute for dissent towards the referee.

However, Sporting debutant Sanderson made sure of the away side’s place in the next round in injury time with a first time effort across goal into the bottom left corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The win seals Sporting’s place in the FA Trophy first round proper.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Bury Town on Saturday, October 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
