BROMSGROVE Sporting assistant boss Darryl Knights has departed the club to take up the manager’s job at Stourbridge.

Knights only joined the Rouslers as assistant manager to Scott Adey-Linforth in November last year.

The 37-year-old previously managed Stourbridge on an interim basis during the 2023/24 campaign.

Adey-Linforth said: “When I brought Darryl to the club, I knew it came with the risk of him eventually one day leaving to take a managerial role.

“As disappointed as I am to lose him, I completely understand and wish him nothing but the best in his new role.

“He’s a top coach and a great friend, and I will look forward to coming up against him next season.

“Rest assured, work has started already to replace Darryl.”

Knights featured for the likes of Ipswich Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Newport County, Solihull Moors, Tamworth, AFC Telford United and Stourbridge during his playing career.

He initially led Stourbridge’s academy side in a player-coach role before taking interim charge of the first team and later departing for Sporting.

Adey-Linforth and Knights will come up against each other in the Southern League Premier Central next season.

Former Stourbridge boss Liam McDonald recently stepped down from his role at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

The club cited the decision was made due to ‘financial issues and long-term uncertainty’.
