BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC fell further behind in the title race following a 4-1 defeat at Hampton Sports, writes Neil Gordon.
Bromsgrove failed to capitalise on the gap between themselves and leaders Silhill being halved to three points after the league expunged the results of now-defunct Yardley Wood.
Goals from Joe Summers, Louis Brown, Alfie Emmons and George Thompson condemned Rovers to defeat with Dan Hagyard on target for the visitors at Field Lane.
Rovers now share second-place in the Birmingham and District League Division Two table with Hampton, who are ahead of Bromsgrove on goal difference and have played two games less.
And Bromsgrove now trail leaders Silhill by six points after losing four of their last five matches.
Hampton broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark when Summers scored from the penalty spot.
However, Rovers equalised late on in the first period courtesy of Hagyard’s fine free-kick to send the teams in level at the break.
The home side reclaimed the lead virtually straight from the restart as Brown restored Hampton’s lead.
And Emmons and Thompson struck late on to put another dent in Rovers’ promotion hopes.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Nechells Athletic on Saturday, March 22 with kick-off at 2.30pm and admission free at Rupert Street.
