BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC assistant manager Kristian Rock expects his players to ‘hit the ground running’ as the team returns to competitive football after a spate of weather-related postponements, writes Neil Gordon.
The Greens are set to play their first game since mid-December this weekend, after seeing their last three games fall victim to the recent bad weather, including Storm Goretti last weekend.
Rovers now belatedly begin 2026 with the first of three home games at Eldorado Close on Saturday, January 17.
They entertain Walsall-based ISSA. FC in the quarter-finals of the Intermediate Cup.
Rock said: “It’s been really frustrating to have our last three games postponed due to bad weather, and we’ve not benefited from injuries clearing up during that time.
“We only have one player injured fortunately, and that’s goalkeeper Jacob Brown who’s out with a broken ankle.”
Rock now wants his players to hit the ground running and claim victories from their forthcoming three home games.
Rock added: “We are looking for three victories from our first three games of 2026, in order to achieve our aim for this season – to win silverware.
“We feel this year everything is very close and competitive, and anything is possible.”
After tomorrow, Bromsgrove then entertain Hampton Sports in a Birmingham and District Football League Division One fixture, followed by Kawala in the Holder Cup.
And the Greens assistant manager is also eager to see a return of the club’s ever-growing band of supporters again, after the recent enforced break.
Rock said: “We really appreciate and welcome the support we receive. It would also be great for us to welcome some new faces on Saturday as well.”
Bromsgrove play ISSA. FC at Eldorado Close on Saturday, January 17. Kick-off is 2pm and admission free.
