SAM HORTON scored a stunning individual goal as Bromsgrove Rovers AFC came from behind to beat Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons 3-1 and return to winning ways, writes Neil Gordon.

A late brace from Brad Daw sealed victory for Bromsgrove after Horton’s individual brilliance cancelled out Fabio Luciano’s opener for Boldmere at Charford Road.

The win means Rovers sit second in the Birmingham and District League Division Two table, one point behind leaders Silhill B with a game in-hand.

Boldmere stunned Bromsgrove as Luciano blasted home the opening goal of the game from distance.

However, Rovers equalised in style when Horton went on a mazy run and waltzed past a number of defenders before drawing the goalkeeper off his line and calmly finding the net to score a stunning solo goal.

The second-half saw the Greens up the pressure with Bailey Depper Gwilliams twice going close with headed efforts.

Rovers player George Tolley then stormed into the box forcing a fine save from the Boldmere goalkeeper and saw his shot cleared off the line from the resulting corner following a goalmouth scramble.

Bromsgrove eventually completed the turnaround when Tolley drew a foul out wide and the Boldmere goalkeeper inexplicably dropped the resulting free kick which allowed Daw to fire home.

And the visiting goalkeeper dropped another free-kick soon after as Daw pounced again to seal the points.

Rovers manager Spencer Machin said: “It was a scrappy game but we fought out a good win.”

Bromsgrove are next in action against Hampton Sports on Saturday, December 7 in the Holder Cup with kick-off at 1.30pm at Field Lane and admission free.
