BROMSGROVE ROVERS AFC moved level with league leaders Silhill following a 2-2 draw against North Solihull in their first game of the New Year, writes Neil Gordon.
Goals from Alex Hopper and Tom Clewes put Rovers in command at Charford Road before Jordan Perrins reduced arrears and Callum Lea’s late goal levelled the game for the visitors.
The result means Bromsgrove and Silhill now share top spot of the Birmingham and District Football League Division Two table on 22 points with the latter side ahead on goal difference.
Rovers stretched their unbeaten league run to eight games in their first fixture since the end of November after three successive postponements due to bad weather.
The Greens were looking to avenge an opening day defeat against their third-placed visitors and made the perfect start as Hopper opened the scoring on 23 minutes.
And Clewes added a second goal soon after when he ran from inside his own half and found the net after beating the offside trap.
However, North Solihull halved the deficit on the stroke of half time when the unmarked Perrins planted a header into the Bromsgrove net.
The visitors were in the ascendancy after the break as Bromsgrove goalkeeper Josh Nicholas produced a fine save to deny the visitors a certain goal.
And North Solihull eventually completed the comeback as substitute Lea capitalised on a defensive mix-up to score a deserved equaliser.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Hampton Sports in the Holder Cup on Saturday, January 11 with kick-off at 1.30pm at Field Lane and admission free.
