ROBBIE Davies scored a hat-trick inside the opening minutes as rampant Bromsgrove Rovers AFC swept aside Phoenix Town 7-3 to progress in the Intermediate Cup, writes Neil Gordon.
Deadly Davies put Bromsgrove in command with three strikes inside the first 13 minutes of the second round tie, before bagging his fourth goal after the interval at Eldorado Close.
Ash Pardoe, Bailey Depper-Gwilliams and Jack Dawkins also scored against lower-ranked Town as Rovers progressed to round three of the cup.
For Phoenix, Connor Joyce, Coyle Keatley and Jacob Beeke grabbed consolation strikes as Town were unable to repeat last season’s upset win against Bromsgrove at the same stage of the competition.
The Greens will be looking to make it three consecutive wins when they next face lower-ranked strugglers Benson Cresconians in the Senior Cup this weekend.
Bromsgrove face Benson Cresconians at Eldorado Close on Saturday, October 25 with kick-off at 2.30pm and admission free.
