FOOTBALL - Bromsgrove Rovers AFC finish season with last gasp defeat

BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC tasted league defeat for the first time in 12 games after conceding an agonising stoppage-time goal against Hampton Sports in their final game of the season, writes Neil Gordon.

Rovers went down 2-1 at Field Lane despite Jake Evans’ late equaliser cancelling out Jack Light’s opener, before Adam Priestly struck in the 92-minute to end Rovers impressive 11 league match winning run.

Bromsgrove finished a credible third in Division Three of the Birmingham and District Football League despite this defeat in only their second season of competitive football.

Bromsgrove fell behind on the hour when Light volleyed home after he latched onto a ball over the top.

However, Rovers never-say-die spirit saw them deservedly draw level late on as Evans produced a magnificent left-footed shot.

But agony was to follow for Bromsgrove when Priestley buried a rebound in stoppage-time to inflict a first league defeat since October on Rovers.
