TEENAGER Keian Savage scored the winning goal as Bromsgrove Rovers AFC came from behind to secure a 2-1 win against bottom club Birmingham University Medics (B).

Savage completed the comeback for Rovers following Ash Pardoe’s equaliser after Medics took a shock lead in a game switched to South Bromsgrove High School due to availability issues with Birmingham’s home pitch.

The result means Bromsgrove sit fifth in the Birmingham and District League Division Three table.

Medics took a surprise lead midway through the first half when Alex Morellie-Batters produced a confident finish from inside the box in atrocious weather conditions.

The Birmingham club have won just one game all season and almost added a second goal only for Freddie Charles to loop a free header wide at the back post from a free-kick.

Moments later, Rovers won a penalty after Pardoe drew a foul in the box and picked himself up to confidently dispatch the resulting spot kick.

And only a fine reaction save from the Medics goalkeeper kept out Alex Footman’s header from a corner as the teams went into the break level.

However, Rovers turned the game on its head six minutes into the second half as 17-year-old Savage glided into the box and swept the ball home to finish off a fine team move.

Rovers had chances to extend their lead as Reiss Robinson forced the Medics keeper into an excellent double save late on.

And Rovers introduced 16-year-old defender Logan Postin in the closing stages who made a number of crucial tackles to ensure the Greens went home with the points.

Bromsgrove host Wake Green Amateur B on Satuday, March 9 with kick-off at 2.30pm and admission free to all at South Bromsgrove High School.
