BROMSGROVE Rovers AFC have the opportunity to go level with leaders Silhill should they beat Redditch Borough on Saturday, April 5, writes Neil Gordon.
The Greens travel to Cherry Tree Walk in the knowledge that the top two sides of the Birmingham and District Football League Division Two table, Silhill and North Solihull, are each without a league fixture and that three points will be sufficient for Rovers to move to joint-top.
Bromsgrove will be looking for their third straight victory after wins over Nechells Athletic and Walsall Phoenix, as well as another clean sheet to add to last weekend’s first clean sheet of the season.
Rovers dropped to third in the table on Wednesday after North Solihull beat Walsall Phoenix 3-nil at Coleshill Road during some mid-week games played to clear a backlog of fixtures.
Solihull’s victory now sees the top three teams separated by just three points with Silhill occupying top spot on 34 points, Solihull second on 33 points and Bromsgrove third on 31 points having played a game more than the top two.
Other mid-week results include Match of The Day going down 3-2 at Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons on Tuesday, before losing 2-1 at Hampton Sports on Thursday.
Boldmere moved up one place from sixth to joint fifth with Hampton Sports for 24-hours until Sports took three points against Match of The Day on Thursday to move up to fourth.
And Basement side Redditch Borough suffered a 5-1 home defeat against Hopwood Swifts on Wednesday, leaving Swifts’ sixth but now closer on points to the top five sides while putting light between themselves and the bottom five sides.
On Saturday eighth-placed Match of the Day have the opportunity to overtake seventh-placed Nechells Athletic when the two teams meet at Rupert Street, with just two points separating the sides. However, it will be Match of The Days fourth game in eight days while Nechells haven’t played for two weeks.
Finally, lowly Polesworth North Warwick entertain Boldmere Sports and Social Falcons looking for a win after three straight defeats, while Boldmere won on Tuesday after their impressive six-game winning run had been ended last Saturday by North Solihull.
