ALVECHURCH suffered a third straight defeat in all competitions after losing 3-2 away at in-form Nuneaton Borough.

Mikey Taylor drew Church level in the first half to cancel out Kane Richards’ early goal before Yaw Ofosu scored a consolation goal for Church in injury time at the Arden Garages Stadium.

The result means Alvechurch sit 15th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points above the relegation zone.

With Nuneaton unable to play at their Liberty Way ground after the club were served an eviction notice last month, the match took place at the home of Stratford Town.

Nuneaton took the lead after just three minutes when Richards fired in off the right-hand post from the edge of the penalty area.

However, Church equalised on 26 minutes when the ball broke kindly to Taylor who blasted home into the right corner of the goal from 20-yards out.

The home side reclaimed the lead on 54 minutes as Matthew Stenson rose highest to head home Kacy Butterfield’s cross from the right.

And Nuneaton sealed the points on 72 minutes when Camron McWilliams forced the ball home despite Church blocking his initial goalbound effort.

The visitors reduced the deficit in the fourth minute of injury time as Ofosu turned the ball home at the back post from Kai George’s pass.

Alvechurch are next in action at home to Boldmere St Michaels on Tuesday, November 14 in the Birmingham Senior Cup with kick-off at 7.45pm at Lye Meadow.
