ALVECHURCH booked their place in the third round of the FA Trophy for the first time in 43 years with a penalty shootout win against Chasetown.
Church triumphed 5-4 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time at Lye Meadow.
The victory means Church are in the hat for the third round draw which takes place live on talkSPORT 2 at 3.15pm on Monday, November 18.
Player-assistant manager Richard Batchelor took charge of the side following the club’s decision to sack former boss James Fry.
Church have since appointed Tim Flowers as the club’s new manager after he departed local rivals Redditch United at the weekend.
After a goalless 90 minutes against Northern Premier League West opponents Chasetown, the game went to penalties.
And Church goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead proved the hero as he saved Chasetown’s first penalty with the remaining nine spot kicks all scored.
Alvechurch travel to Highgate United in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday, November 19 with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Coppice.
