ALVECHURCH have confirmed the departures of two key players ahead of the start of the 2023/24 Southern League Premier Central season.

Midfielder Jed Abbey and forward Tyrell Hamilton have both completed moves to clubs in the National League North.

Abbey, who scored a stunning free-kick in Church’s FA Cup second round defeat against Forest Green Rovers last season, has joined South Shields for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old was a key player in Ian Long’s side last season as he scored 19 goals from midfield and provided eight assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.

Abbey tweeted: “I’m grateful to everyone involved at Alvechurch for welcoming me with open arms and for just giving me an opportunity to play. It was an absolute pleasure to play in front of you.”

And Hamilton has completed a move to Banbury United for an undisclosed fee as both players make the step up to the National League North.

The striker scored 21 goals in 78 games for Church after joining permanently in January 2022.

Hamilton tweeted: “I just wanted to say a big thank you for having me for the the last two seasons and upmost respect to the club, the board and coaching staff.”

However, Alvechurch have signed exciting 21-year-old forward Kai Adan George who made two senior appearances for Birmingham City before an ACL injury limited the youngster’s game time.

Alvechurch begin the season with a trip to Hitchin Town on Saturday, August 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Top Field.
