FOOTBALL - Alvechurch boss Fry wants to 'attack' new season after raft of new signings

JAMES Fry wants Alvechurch to ‘attack’ the new season having added a plethora of new players to his squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Fry steered Alvechurch to safety last season following his appointment at Lye Meadow in September – his first job as a manager.

And Fry insists the club will take a different approach to the upcoming campaign as Church hope to climb up the Southern League Premier Central table.

Fry said: “Between me and the club, we’ve come up with a slightly different strategy and programme to last season, we’ve set about trying to hit our recruitment targets and it seems to have paid off so far, we’ve made some really good signings.

“The biggest learning tool for me last season was how we managed the group and the staff and managed to stick together, I tried to stay as level-headed as you can under those pressure moments and over the course of time it pays dividends.

“We want to add one or two more players, it will give me and staff a full pre-season with the players and allows us to get to work in terms of what we want things to look like on and off the pitch so we can really attack the season.

“We want to improve on last season, we’ve got to put some results together to achieve a much higher league position than the previous season.

“In pre-season, we’ve got to get the players fit and during that process we’ve got to implement our thoughts and ideas on the game, there will be times where the boys get things wrong but as a process we’ve got six weeks to get our ideas into them.

“It excites me to work with the type of players we’ve managed to bring in. The boys have bought into the project that we’re building here and adapting to, everyone is chomping at the bit to get going.”

Alvechurch signed midfielder Callum Sullivan from Birmingham City earlier this week in another addition to Fry’s squad.

Sullivan spent time on loan at Rushall Olympic in the National League North last season where he provided one assist in 15 appearances.
