FOOTBALL - Alvechurch appoint new management team

ALVECHURCH have confirmed the appointment of James Fry as the club’s new first-team manager replacing former boss Ian Long.

Fry retired from playing last season after spells with Leamington, Tamworth, Stratford Town, Bromsgrove Sporting and Rugby Town following his release from Birmingham City.

And Fry has been coaching across the age groups at Birmingham’s academy programme since retiring as the UEFA A licenced coach takes on his first managerial role.

Supporting Fry will be head of performance and first team coach Steve Hensel while Richard Batchelor will combine a playing role with a senior coach berth.

Fry’s arrival spells the end of Richard Colwell and Matt Kirby’s interim spell in charge with the duo guiding Church to four points from two matches.

Both Colwell and Kirby have now departed the club following Long’s sacking earlier this month.

Fry will take charge of his first Alvechurch game this weekend at home to Long Eaton United on Saturday, September 30 with kick-off at 3pm at Lye Meadow.
