FAIRFIELD Villa completed an eve-of-season move to draft in Romulus player Elliott Weston.
Weston signed forms after impressing in last weekend’s 1-0 friendly win at Pershore Town and manager Keith Draper is delighted to complete the deal ahead of Saturday’s opening game of the Midland League Division Two season at home to Hampton.
Draper says he has been pleased with how the squad has come together in pre-season and can’t wait for the action to start in earnest.
“Myself, Ez [Aaron Blackwood] and jason [Hancox] are happy with the squad, we’ve worked to get this together,” said Draper.
“We’ve had a good pre-season so we’re looking forward to the season now.
“There are still a few boys on their jollies but we should be near full strength soon.”
Despite a curtailed squad with 12 players missing, the Swans battled to a 1-0 win at Pershore last week, with Brad Hendry scoring the second-half goal.
Fairfield followed up with a 4-1 win against Redditch United U23s on Tuesday night. Connor Perry Holmes netted twice with Jake Wicketts and Luke Wyatt also on target.
