THE final one-day events of this year’s Wychavon Parish Games took place last weekend.
The last two one-day competitions were the senior table tennis, sponsored by Beswicks Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning and the junior event, sponsored by Vic Haines Transport.
And a record 17 teams took part in the senior event with a number of close and exciting games being played in the early rounds before Wyre Piddle beat Badsey 3-2 and Evesham South beat Harvington in the semi-finals.
The final proved a tight affair as Evesham South eventually claimed a narrow 2-1 to clinch the title with Wyre Piddle finishing as runners-up.
Other teams taking part were Fladbury, North and Middle Littleton, Ashton-under-Hill, Honeybourne, Hill and Moor, South Littleton, Sedgeberrow, Wick, Bretforton, Inkberrow, Evesham Bengeworth, Broadway and Pebworth.
And there were 10 entries in the junior event as Wyre Piddle again progressed to the semi-finals only to be beaten by Evesham Bengeworth whilst Offenham then beat Badsey to progress to the final.
An exciting final ensued as Evesham Bengeworth took the trophy with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Other teams taking part were South Littleton, Peworth, Inkberrow, Eckington, North and Middle Littleton and Harvington.
In the knockout events, the crib final, sponsored by Broadway Parish Council, will be contested between Eckington and Broadway next weekend (Sunday, October 16).
And the men’s darts final, sponsored by KC Carpets, will be between Badsey and either Offenham or Bretforton.
Bretforton will also take part in the dominoes final, where they will play either Pinvin or Evesham Bengeworth.
The Pool final, sponsored by Kanes Foods, will be a local derby between Bretforton and close neighbours Badsey.
